Hi, my name is Alex and I am starting this fundraiser to help my friend Eman’s family in Gaza.

Eman’s mum, dad, four brothers, four sisters and eleven nephews/nieces have all lost their homes in Israeli bombings. The children have been out of school since October 2023 and the family has been moving from place to place since then striving to keep safe. They returned to Gaza after the ceasefire agreement only to be met with an even worse and more precarious living situation. People in Gaza are now starving. There is no aid and no food available.

The pictures above show the place where Eman’s family lives, a bombed out building where over 20 members of their family share one floor without windows, electricity nor water. They have arranged the building with tents and drapes to keep out the cold and the sun and create some privacy.

Life in Gaza is harder and more precarious than ever before. Medicine and food have become a luxury. Eman’s mum and dad are diabetic and need insuline and tablets. They need to roam the city for hours at a time hoping that they’ll find this basic medication in a pharmacy.

The cost of flour is 30£ a kg. A large bag of flour is sold for over 500£. The cost of one kg of tomatoes is 40£, about 5£ per tomato. People have been soaking pasta and lentils to make bread even these are now are prohibitively expensive.

Eman has been sending money to her family monthly, which she collects from the community and her own savings. However what she’s able to send is not enough for her family to be able to continue surviving.

The money we collect in this fundraiser will be sent to Eman’s sister who lives in the West Bank as cash via Western Union.

Eman’s sister can then transfer the money into her brother’s account in Gaza.
