MY fight for Evie

My name is Robert Flores, but everyone calls me Bobby.

I’m generally not the type of person who asks for any type of help.  Unfortunately right now I am in an unprecedented circumstance that has forced me to set my pride aside and do so.  I’m humbly asking for any help I can get, as I REALLY need it right now.

Here’s some back story:

Evie, (that’s my daughter’s name) was born May 29, 2018.  Shortly after meeting her mother, we found out we were expecting.  Evie is only 2 years old right now.

Evie’s mother and I were together for 3 years.  As any other relationship, we had our issues, but for the first time, I felt like my life was going in the right direction.  I have a good and stable job, I’m going to school to finish my apprenticeship, lived in a small comfortable 2 bedroom apartment with my girlfriend and our daughter. I thought I was starting my own little family.

I also have a 21 year old son Andrew.  I’ve made many mistakes in my life.  One of my biggest mistakes, one which I’ll regret for the rest of my life was, getting involved in things that would keep me away from Andrew when a boy needs his father the most.  Today, I am fighting for my right to be able to be a constant involved father in Evie’s life.

As I said, my relationship with Evie’s mother was never perfect, but I would have never thought in a million years that she would try to take our daughter completely away from me and my family.  Evie’s mother left to North Carolina on June 10th (against my wishes as she was going to be staying in South Carolina which at that time was a hot spot of this pandemic), to visit her mother.  I wasn’t able to spend Father’s Day with her this year as her mother purchased their return flight for the Monday after. There was no fight/arguement prior, so, I was in shock to find out, that just a day after their arrival back home, my sister received a phone call from Evie’s grandmother stating that she would be coming down July 16th to pack up her daughter and Evie and that she was moving both of them to North Carolina. SIDE NOTE: Evie has a half-sister who is 9 years old whom her grandmother has been raising basically since her birth.

Fast forward, I am not going to make the same mistake again and not be a part of my daughter’s life.  I am not trying to take away our daughter from her mother either.  When I tried to talk to Evie’s mother in regard to our future co-parenting visitation plan, I was told that if I wanted, I could fly down there and see Evie one week a year.  I can’t let that happen and that is why I am here asking for any and all help that I can get.

I had to rush and retain an attorney that had to go in (I’m not knowledgeable in Family Law) for an ex parte RFO and obtained a restraining order to prevent Evie’s mother from leaving the state before a court date.  Since this came totally out of the blue, I had to ask for a $6,000 loan to have these initial procedures done.  My attorney is now asking for a second retainer of $5,000.  I am currently moving out and will be staying with family in order to pay back the first loan and save up for the foreseeable future attorney fees as I’ve heard these things can not only take a long time but are also very costly.  I will spend whatever it is that I can and have to in order to obtain a fair visiting plan that’s in Evie’s best interest.

Aside from me, my family is also distraught.  I don’t know where my daughter currently is at.  My family nor myself have been able to see or FaceTime with Evie.  My sister and mother who were Evie's caretakers every Tuesday and Friday since her birth are devastated.

We currently have a mediation appointment on July 29th in which I’m hoping to come to an agreement.  I don’t want to be negative, but I don’t see that happening and am scared that I’m about to enter in the hardest fight of my life.  Her mother has retained a swanky Beverly Hills attorney for her.  We have our first court appearance on July 31st.  I have run out of funds right now and I NEED to retain my attorney before then.  Again, I am humbly asking please for ANY support for my current situation(including prayers) as I really need them.

Thank You in advance!
