My name is Mariia and I am from Kharkiv, Ukraine. I have moved to the USA 8 years ago, but my family stayed in Kharkiv - my mom, grandmother, sister and 2 dogs. When Russia brutally invaded Ukraine on February, 24th 2022, I couldn’t believe this was happening to us and this was true. The darkest times of our lives - they were there under constant missile attacks, airplane bombings, thermobaric weapons. Second week of the war they escaped to a suburb town thinking it would be safer - but the town got occupied... they were able to flee from an occupied town back to Kharkiv and finally they agreed to leave their home... With only few bags without knowing what is next, they made it all the way from Kharkiv to Poland... The day I knew they were making their way to Poland I was on a plane. I met them on the Polish side and they were alive. My refugees... They are currently in Georgia (country). Their entire lives are left behind. Apartments, everything they collected during lifetime - just everything they had... My mom lost her job. And I am currently supporting and financing them. My sister will be moving to Romania for work and that will help, but I need your support as they are starting everything over, from scratch. Every dollar helps, all money will go to my mom to cover living costs and building a new life abroad.
