Hi, My name is Maysoon Silmi. I am a Palestinian Canadian who initiated this fundraiser to help my uncle's family to evacuate Gaza. Because as you know, people in Gaza have no connection to the outside world and need someone who is living abroad to facilitate the process for them. I will be responsible to transfer any amount of money raised to them in Gaza. Here's the message of my cousin Layla, I just pasted it here with the photographs she sent exactly as she instructed me. Here's her message:

My name is Layla Salma, and I am 23 years old. Since I was just two years old, my life has been defined by war. Growing up in Gaza, I have endured repeated conflicts, trauma, and loss. The recent war has destroyed what little stability I had left.

I recently graduated with a degree in English Literature, and I had dreams of pursuing a master's degree in journalism to build a peaceful future. However, instead of preparing for my studies, I now find myself living in a tent with my elderly parents after our home was destroyed.

My father's health has deteriorated rapidly, and both of my parents—too old and frail for such harsh living conditions—are in desperate need of proper shelter and care. I am their sole caregiver. The war has also taken away my opportunity to continue my education, leaving my future uncertain.

I am seeking to raise CAD $50,000 to secure a safe home for my family, cover medical expenses, and resume my studies. More than anything, I dream of finally escaping the constant cycle of war and pain—to have the chance to live a normal life, just like anyone else.
