Hi there! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Liz Wilson Greer. I am reaching out to try and help my nephew Joseph Tiago (and a fellow musician) who is going through a very challenging time financially, emotionally, and physically.  Joey feels embarrassed that he needs help. I know that I felt the same way about asking for help when I was in my twenties, too. My nephew Joe does not have cancer like I've had, but he does have financial and health challenges and is trying to find his way in the world after many obstacles and tough situations in life. I love him very much and would do anything to help him. I know first-hand how powerful it can be to let people help you. I also know how uplifting it is for me to be able to help others.

My nephew Joe is generous, kind, creative, hard-working, sweet, thoughtful, and somewhat-reserved, funny, an extremely talented guitarist, and a gentle, loving soul. Joe recently took a giant and courageous leap to try and make it on his own in another state while following in the footsteps of his good friend and has had a difficult time establishing himself ever since. He secured a job in a warehouse that is very physically demanding but is looking for another position that will be less taxing on his back. Joe  has something called subluxation degeneration phase 2 in his back and has constant pain from lifting heavy items at work all day. Unfortunately, his job does not have affordable insurance and he is on a payment plan to get chiropractic treatments that make take a great deal of time to help. Joey definitely can’t afford to go to a doctor or have surgery at this time. Instead of being able to save money to rent a room he’s paying for chiropractic care for his back. This has made it so that Joe’s had to sleep in his car in Maryland—not a safe thing to do even if you know the area you’re living in. He joined Planet Fitness so that he can shower and get water. Money is extremely tight for him right now.

My nephew needs $1400 for two months of a room to rent as well as money for food, gas, and chiropractic care. Any donation you could make would not only help him to create a new life for himself, but would also show Joe  that there are people out there that care and are rooting for him. He wants to be able to pay anyone back who helps him. I told Joe that he could do that by paying it forward when he’s in a position to help someone else down the road. For those that may prefer donating items rather than money, Joe also has a dream of having a little music recording studio in the room he hopes to rent. If any of you would like to buy him some recording equipment, etc.—or maybe a gift certificate to Sweetwater or some other online studio equipment company—that would be amazing. I’m fixing up an old MacBook of mine and have a basic microphone that I can send to him when he gets a place. Joe is  not able to store anything until he is able to rent a room but I really hope that he can get a new electric guitar, too, since that’s the instrument he sold to move down to Maryland. Joe had only one electric guitar and saved up for a very long time to buy it. I was so sad when I learned that he was selling it.
