Help My Family Facing Eviction

Summary: 2 kids, 3 young adults, and their mother need to separate from their abusive father.

Can't go out and get jobs because the only car barely functions to get anyone anywhere. Lawyers are working on the case but finances are dwindling. Landlady doesn't care about the situation and wants us out by Aug 1st.

 

Full story: My siblings and my mother have been emotionally, financially, and religiously abused by my father. He'd belittle our faith with his own, hide almost all finances, and refuse to connect with his children as well as insult our mother to them. This happened for years until he moved out at the end of 2020. My mom hoped to divorce him after a year of separation so that we could finally move on.

 

Despite several attempts at a clean, quick divorce, my father adamantly refused and complicated the process by hiring an attorney. Since then, he's made matters worse by:

 

All of these things make for an extremely difficult living situation and forces us towards destitution. I have already spent nearly $10,000 of my own money on legal fees but it hasn't done much and we're at a critical juncture.

 

My father cannot be allowed to succeed. The consequences are dire. If he wins this legal battle, he'll gain custody of the two youngest children (aged 14 and 8) and impoverish the rest of the family. He is an unstable, schizophrenic, narcissistic man who never showed care for his children before this case. He cannot gain custody. If we're broke, we can't stop that.

 

My oldest siblings and I want to find jobs to help fund this ourselves but our only vehicle is on its last legs and the price of gasoline is outrageous these days. Jobs within walking distance are unsafe thanks to where we live and they don't pay well. We'd move to a better location but my father disallowed it.

 

This leaves us stranded, and by August 1st, we'll be homeless too.
