...my expedition to Peru with Camps International

An Amazing Trip

My name is James Howell, I am 15 years old and attend Samuel Whitbread Academy. In July of 2025 I will be part of a group of students travelling to the sacred valley region of Peru to work on a range of local, sustainable and meaningful community, conservation and cultural projects. At the end of our expedition, we will be trekking high into the Andes to the world heritage site of Machu Picchu - an ancient abandoned Inca city. The expedition is being organised by the award-winning charity Camp International.

An Amazing Opportunity

The expedition is a huge opportunity for me to travel independently (well without mum and dad!), explore Peru’s dramatic scenery, learn about its vibrant culture and make a positive and sustainable contribution to communities that face enormous challenges and yet are often neglected. Camping for most of the expedition, experiencing life without common comforts (no WiFi!) and working with local people will push me as a person and broaden my horizons and understanding of the wider world.

A bit of hard work 

Of course travelling to Peru for four weeks is rather expensive. To fund my place on the expedition I am setting up a glass collection service and doing a sponsored coast to coast cycle. Please donate whatever you can. Thanks,
