My name is LaWanda Young and I am reaching out to share my story and seek assistance during an incredibly difficult time in my life.

On July 22, my son Justin Howard tragically lost his life in a terrible car accident on Highland Road in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Justin was a bright, honorable young man with his entire life ahead of him. He graduated with honors, was hardworking, and deeply respectful. His untimely passing has left me devastated and vulnerable, as I struggle to come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful child.

Justin was not only a devoted son but also treated his younger brother as if he were his own child. Understanding the challenges I was facing with my health, Justin stepped in as a strong, responsible figure for his brother. Losing him has been unimaginable for our family, especially for his younger brother, who looked up to him so much.

Before his passing, Justin and I had plans to add another room to our home, as our two-bedroom house was insufficient for our growing family. Unexpectedly, after his death, I discovered a policy Justin had left, which I was previously unaware of. This policy gave me hope to continue the dream that Justin and I shared: expanding our home to better accommodate our family. I wanted to create a special room to honor Justin, who always gave his room up for his brother Tyler, knowing how much Tyler needed his own space.

Unfortunately, my hopes were shattered when I hired a contractor to complete the renovation. Although he promised to help fulfill the dream Justin and I had, after receiving a $10,000 deposit and knowing about the source of my funds and my situation—having even offered his condolences—the contractor demanded more money and ultimately took over $30,000 from me while leaving the job incomplete. The work left my home exposed to the elements and pests, which is particularly distressing as my four-year-old son, who is artistically gifted and has special needs, now faces an unsafe living environment.

This series of events has devastated me further. I struggle to understand why bad people prey on those already suffering. I am doing my best to remain strong for my sons despite my personal and financial difficulties, but I do not know where to turn for help.

At this point, I am in urgent need of support to restore my home and find some stability for my family. Any assistance, advice, or guidance you can offer would be deeply appreciated.

Also, the authorities have been notified about this matter and charges will be implemented!! it’s a serious matter concerning the contractor I hired for work at my home. It has came to my attention that this contractor has engaged in fraudulent activities that have caused me significant distress and financial loss.

Specifically, the contractor submitted fake invoices and receipts that were fabricated by him, yet bore the names of legitimate companies. These documents were used to justify payments for services and materials that were either not provided or grossly misrepresented. Additionally, the contractor deliberately damaged parts of my home, presenting these damages as pre-existing conditions in order to demand further money for repairs.

This conduct is not only unethical but also illegal, and it has undermined my trust and confidence in the services provided. I requested a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate action against the contractor to rectify the situation and prevent further harm.
