Please help my dad recover from brain surgery

My dad found out today that his short term disability was denied.  My mom is the only one working and bringing in money to pay bills and get everything my dad needs to recover.  He still has to have the fluid drained which is not covered by his insurance.  Please help if you are able to.  Your donations will help our family and my dad so much.  Thank you

My dad went into his 2 week checkup and found out that he has a fluid build up around his surgery location.  He has to stay away from stairs for another week, so this mean 1 more week in the hotel.  Also he has to have a second procedure to reduce the pressure from the fluid built up.  The procedure is not covered under his insurance.  This procedure is expensive and due to him not working, him and my mom unfortunately don’t have the money for the procedure.


Hi, my name is Joey Elsass. My dad, Joe, just had brain surgery for his Chiari malformation. This is a condition where his brain tissue extended into the spinal canal. This caused severe health issues for him including but not limited to seizures and migraines. This resulted in a surgery called posterior fossa decompression to give his brain more room. We are asking for assistance during his recovery as he cannot work and needs to stay in a hotel for at least a two week time period. He unfortunately cannot be at home because he is unable to use the stairs in our split-level home as his body adjusts to balance issues stemming from the surgery. This quiet environment also allows him to rest while his body and mind recover. Any donation will go toward the hotel room, food, and additional medical supplies he may need.
