My name is Arthur Martin. I live in the city of East St. Louis, Illinois. I'm 64 years old and the oldest of 8 brothers and sisters.

My dad is Lee Martin, and he's an 82-year-old veteran who fell ill in the city of Springfield, Illinois. It's about a 1 hour and 30 minutes drive to see him. The family, which is me and my brother Fred, is the only family here in Illinois; the rest of the family is in California.

My dad has sugar diabetes and dementia. He didn't know he had these diseases because he refused to go to the doctors unless he felt ill. Well, time caught up with him, and they found him passed out in his home, and he ended up in the hospital in Springfield. They're talking about amputation of both legs, so they moved him into a rest home in Hillsboro, 45 minutes away from Springfield.

Now, I'm going to go to the courthouse in Springfield to be a guardian of my father and to move him to Collinsville, Illinois, close to the family that's here near me. The problem is, I don't have the funds to save his property. I need a U-Haul truck and a storage unit to put his property in, and it's going to cost me gas to get up to Springfield with the truck.
