Hi everyone,

My name is Santena and I was born in Jamaica. I live in Canada now but my immediate family still lives in Jamaica and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help. My brother and his family in Manchester, Jamaica, have lost everything in the recent hurricane — including our family home that’s been in our family for generations.

This wasn’t just a house. It was our father’s home — the place where we all grew up, had shared meals, and made some of our most cherished memories. It was a home filled with laughter, love, and the feeling of safety. Now, it’s completely gone. The roof was torn off, walls collapsed, and EVERYTHING inside was destroyed.

My brother, his wife, and their children have been living there, and now they’re trying to pick up the pieces and start over. They’ve lost not only their home—a place filled with our family’s history and memories—but also ALL their belongings. EVERYTHING is gone: their animals, food, clothing, and basic necessities. Right now, they’re staying with neighbours, but conditions are very difficult, and they’re having to rebuild from nothing. Even the fruit and vegetable trees that once helped sustain them have been completely destroyed.

I’m creating this GoFundMe to help them rebuild — to give them a safe place to live again, and to help replace the essentials like clothing, food, school supplies, and furniture. Every bit of help, no matter how small, will make a huge difference.
