A second chance for grandma and a rescue dog!

My name is Sage, and I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt request. My beloved Grandma, who is both deaf and blind, has been my rock and inspiration throughout my life. Now, in her golden years, she faces the world with incredible strength and resilience. There is something these days that she has been missing in her life. My grandmother has always enjoyed the companionship of a dog and after over a year of longing and a loneliness that can only be felt by the lack of a loving canine companion, she’s ready to embark on the journey of dog ownership once again.

That's where a special rescue dog comes in.

We are searching for the perfect mutt match who needs a loving home just as much as Grandma needs a companion. We’ve enlisted the help of an ethical, certified professional dog trainer to seek out and prepare a life companion for my grandma. By bringing them together, we can create a bond that will enrich both of their lives immeasurably.

We need your help to make this dream a reality. The costs involved are significant, and any contribution, big or small, will bring us one step closer to making this beautiful connection happen. Here’s a breakdown of what we need:

Budget Breakdown

1. Dog Selection and Training: $4,800

o The Dog will be hand selected by a trainer for personality and behavior markers that will make it a great fit and permanent placement for my family

o The dog will complete a 3-week humane, in home boarding with training program to hone their leash skills, learn some sign language (so my grandma can communicate with her dog) and prepare for their new life with a solid foundation of training

o Includes housing, feeding, training and assessments as well as follow up training sessions in home with my family and the trainer

2. Adoption Fee: $500 - $700

o The cost of adopting the dog from a rescue organization or shelter.

o Ensures the dog is legally transferred and ready for its new home.

3. Initial Vet Visit and Medical Care: $300

o Comprehensive health check-up.

o Necessary vaccinations, deworming, and any immediate medical needs.

4. Care Team (Wag & Rover): $500

o Professional pet care services to ensure the dog gets the appropriate amount of exercise and care once they’re in the home.

o Includes dog walking, pet sitting, and other essential care services, our goal is to ensure they’re both living their best, most fulfilled lives

Total: Approximately $6,000
