My amazing sissy Claire
Donation protected

Hi everybody, I’m Laura and I have the pleasure of having an amazing sissy called Claire who back in 2020 was diagnosed with a Grade 1 Meningioma.
Plans were then made for Claire to have a Craniotomy, this was the unknown for us all as a family and if I’m completely honest I was numb to it all and quite naive to what was on the horizon.
I thought, as soon as Claire’s had the op, she will be back to normal and everything will be fine. This wasn’t the case unfortunately. Claire had seizures, and also received injuries from these.
So far Claire has had 3 craniotomy’s, radiotherapy and tried lots of different medications and treatments over the years to which none have had the outcome we had hoped for.
Fast-forward to Friday 4th of April, I got the phone call that nobody wants to get, to say that the emergency MRI Claire received for the previous day had shown that the tumour has spread to the other side of her brain, has been graded higher at Grade 2 and was further limiting the treatment options available to her.
She is awaiting further scans to formulate a plan but as you can imagine the news has been devastating for Claire, myself and the rest of the family.
Claire currently has no sight in her right eye, she is losing hearing ability in her right ear along with the feeling in the right side of her face due to nerve damage. She is also on a lot of medication to prevent seizures and keep her pain levels as manageable as possible. Due to all of this and the nature of Claires job, she’s had no choice but to stop working.
So…
Leila and I have decided to do a number of charity events to raise money for Claire. The last thing that anybody in this situation needs to be worrying about is how they’re going to pay the bills, pay for fuel to travel to and from hospital, overnight stays for family, and being able to do the things that she has put her life on hold for over the last 4 years.
To start with we have decided to do the three-peaks challenge as one of the main events. We are looking at doing it where we travel to Scotland on Friday 20th of June, stay overnight and start the walk on the Saturday morning; finish the walk on the Sunday in Wales then (potentially) stay overnight before returning home on the Monday. The aim is to get this challenge completed in 24 hours or under.
The main focus is going to be to raise as much money as we can to go directly to Claire to help towards associated costs and to take away the burden of worrying about finances at such a traumatic time.
Thanks for taking the time to read and if you have any questions or want to speak to me, please give me a shout.
lots of love
