My African Adventure volunteering in Zanzibar
Donation protected
My name is Bella Ayling and I’m 14 years old. Since a young age, I have known I wanted to help people who are less fortunate and need help the most.
To make sure I can do that within my future I have put myself forward for different opportunities.
Previous opportunities being Ten Tours which I completed earlier this year and completing the Bronze stage Duke of Edinburgh which includes volunteering and giving back, and silver is next.
I have now been given the opportunity to continue my volunteering experience, but this time in Zanzibar.
I will be going to Zanzibar to help children in poverty and re build their schools and to teach them and introduce them into sports.
In Zanzibar government run schools are severely underfunded and struggling to cope with the growing population of young people. This means that children are divided into two sittings so that children get an opportunity to go to school. Literally meaning that their education is halved straight away.
This is my chance to do my bit and help renovate and provide extra support in the classrooms where there can be up to 100 children per class.
Something that really caught my attention was that the children attending this school have one free school meal a day but for most that’s their only meal.
After hearing this and knowing that I can help I applied and got accepted for 11 day volunteering.
As part of the volunteering I have also been tasked with fundraising £3000 by myself.
This itself is a challenge in current climate where many of own society are feeling the cost of living.
I have lots of different ideas and work which I will be undertaking over the next year in order to reach my target.
So please if you feel the same way I do and want to help, please donate as much as you can spare.
i am truly grateful for everything received and the help and support for this cause to help in Africa.
thanks for your time
