Further edited to add: The gofundme team, like us, believes in transparency, so I am editing to add additional details of who I am, who the gofundme team mates are, where the funds will be spent and the eventual beneficiaries.  I am an Indian citizen resident in the US. My gofundme team mates and I are friends and classmates from law school in India. We were concerned with all we are seeing, hearing and reading about the COVID situation in India and trying to do our bit to help beneficiaries who may be too small or remote to be on the radar screen of larger not-for-profits working on COVID relief in India. The funds here raised will be withdrawn into my personal bank account and I will wire the funds to one or more supplier or manufacturer of Oxygen Concentrators. The suppliers/manufacturers may be located in China, USA, India, or another part of the world. The Oxygen Concentrators will be shipped to Delhi. Our friends and classmates from law school in India are receiving requests every day from smaller hospitals. I and the gofundme team mates are part of a Whatsapp group on which these requests are circulated. We don't yet know which requests will be "open" once the Oxygen Concentrators reach India. Transparency is important to us, so I will continue to edit this story with details of the beneficiaries as we deploy the Oxygen Concentrators once they reach India. We (the fundraisers) have no relationship with the recipient of the donated funds (i.e., the vendors and manufacturers of OCs), or the eventual beneficiaries (the smaller hospitals in India which will receive the OCs).

ETA: We have raised the goal to $15,000.  We had an overwhelming response, both in terms of donations (thank you!), and in terms of people reaching out to us to put their needs on our radar screen for when our Oxygen Convertors reach India. We're hopeful we can buy additional Oxygen Convertors with the excess funds. If any funds remain after we buy the maximum number of OCs we are allocated, we will use the funds for other COVID-relief activities among the target population - underfunded hospitals in smaller cities and rural areas, and low income populations with limited access to medical supplies.

We are raising $10,000, to buy approximately 15 Oxygen Concentrators to send to India. Fifteen Oxygen Concentrators is a drop in the ocean compared to the massive and dire shortage in the country. But drops like ours from across the globe are merging into streams, turning into rivers and flowing life-saving Oxygen, medical supplies and vaccines into India.

We are the U.S.-based alum of the National Law School of India University. Our friends and alumni on the ground in India are working day and night to ensure that low-income families, under-funded hospitals in rural and semi-urban areas, and others in need in India receive life-saving access to Oxygen. Your contribution will help us help them save lives.

We are requesting the funds by Sunday night. Why the urgency? Because a very reputable charity is placing their order with a vetted supplier on Monday morning. If we can raise the funds to place our order at the same time, we get the benefit of medical grade equipment, at a significant discount. In other words, each dollar of your donation goes directly and immediately toward saving lives.
