Please help me and my family get back on our feet

Hi, my name is Amber.

On 8/22/16 i was hit head on by an escaped convict during a high speed chase. A week prior, Scott Grimes had walked out of the Warren County jail while the jailer gave meds to another inmate. The FBI and Iowa State Patrol had been following him for awhile, but ultimately decided to pull him over in a residential neighborhood during rush hour.

I had broken bones in all limbs including my neck, several ribs, punctured a lung, ruptured my intestines, had a hole in my groin from the seatbelt (which developed MRSA), was in a coma for a month, developed osteomyelitis of the skull, have a TBI, have partial hearing loss in both ears, was In the hospital for 3 months and a rehab facility for one month.

I lost my physical health, my mental health (i have severe depression, ptsd, and anxiety), my new car, my job (i am on disability), my marriage, and my house.

I had a pending lawsuit against the State of Iowa for the last 6 1/2 years, but on 2/17/23 the Iowa Supreme Court dismissed it. Now i am left to deal with the destruction and financial burden this accident has caused, without compensation.

Me, my son, and my oldest granddaughter moved in with my parents a year ago. With any funds raised i would pay off bills and hopefully find a place to live.
