A Snapshot of Trans Genocide in the United States:

Currently, our government has introduced over 418 bills targeting trans lives. 13 US states have banned access to gender-affirming medical care below the age of 18. Upon these laws being passed, all trans youth are being forced to medically detransition. A further 19 states are considering this legislation.

Here is the legislation that has passed or is being considered around the US:
-De facto trans registries in which swathes of the trans community are being tracked.
-Housing and employment discrimination is being codified in law.
-Bans on wearing clothing different than sex assigned at birth in public.
-Teachers reporting to parents when students chose to use a differently gendered name.
-Books are being banned (not different than being burned).
-Teachers are not allowed to talk about gender or sexuality.
-Students are being sent home

The number of trans youth committing suicide is the highest it has been in decades. According to the NIH, as of 2022, 40% of Trans individuals have attempted suicide, while 82% have considered the act. Trans people are living in the streets forced to make a living as sex workers. Our Black Trans sisters are being shot and murdered. Many of us are enduring trauma that will impact our lifelong ability to live and function in this world.

Our lives are under attack institutionally, societally, and on micro individual levels. The average life expectancy for a black trans woman is 35 years old. Creating living circumstances in which trans people are dying or unable to endure life in these ways constitutes genocide, both medically, legislatively and, eventually, societally in general. We need our loved ones and allies to meet the level of violence and hatred we are experiencing with support and love.
