Mutual aid for Native folx

White folx,

I'm working with a native led food sovereignty program serving the Bad River Tribe. The community has survived genocide and over a century of systemic oppression and disenfranchisement. They continue to come up against barriers to access (nutritious food, healthcare, employment, you name it) comparatively boundless to any we ever will, all the while carrying generations of unimaginable trauma.

My coworkers are themselves Native and a few of them need your help URGENTLY. One, at the age of 22, recently took custody of his two teenage nephews and is struggling to keep them afloat. His car broke down last week making it very difficult to get to and from work. He needs money for repairs. The other is battling through recovery, all the while busting ass at work and supporting two kids. Her car is also on its last leg and she needs a new one.

This is a call for mutual aid, for reparations from white people all of whom benefit from the systems that disenfranchise and violently oppress native people. I'm not asking for $5. I'm asking for all the disposable income you have this month. That includes the money you were planning on spending on drinks at the bar this weekend or a nice dinner, the money you would have spent on organic at the grocery store or a skin care product. Anything you can live without. Make "sacrifices" for these two. They more than deserve it. They have a right to it.
