Hello, community!

I recently connected with Harmony and her 2-year-old child, Baby A, through a mutual friend and they have become part of our community. 

In May of 2021, Harmony left an abusive marriage to pursue a safe life for Baby A and herself. Within a few weeks, she found a job in SF and relocated to The Bay where she immediately began searching for secure housing.

Since Harmony recently migrated to the U.S., her family and networks still primarily exist in Japan, but due to racialized trauma, she does not feel safe returning to Japan to raise Baby A. Both her ex and their immediate family are encouraging her to return to the marriage and are not in support of aiding the separation and relocation.

After moving six times in the past two years, Harmony wants to set roots and begin healing. She has done everything in her power to secure a stable, safe, and supportive environment for Baby A and on August 1, the two of them are moving into a child-friendly, Black woman-centered home near Baby A's preschool. 

This GoFundMe is here to help affirm Harmony's decision to seek safety and create some breathing room and security for their first few months of living independently. This money is going directly to Harmony and Baby A to help cover the cost of relocating, housing, food, and child-care expenses.
