"Refugees of the Heart" video

Over 50 years ago I began my journey in life. At age 3, I started singing harmony to the music in my home and by age 6 was involved in Music Theater. The pop artists of the 70’s inspired me to develop my talent while songs like James Taylor’s “Shower the People You Love with Love” and Karen Carpenters’ “I Won’t Last a Day without You” inspired me to make a difference in the world with my voice.
15 years ago I recorded a song by a music friend that touched me deeply, called “Safe Harbors”. Its message is that today we see millions of refugees across the world, fleeing terrible conditions of abuse and war. However, we often forget that millions more are right next door, fighting their own secret battles everyday….as “Refugees of the Heart”. While it is a remarkable challenge to reach out to others in foreign lands, it is an even greater responsibility for each of us to look around and find those “who need a helping hand” in our communities. Yet how do we discover who they are?
Recently, I learned of an amazing way to do just that. It is An App and Website called “JustServe”. This non-profit site connects people who want to serve, with local organizations and projects covering the needs in our communities in every imaginable way. I have used it and love it! Because it’s new and many are not aware of it, I decided to make a music video to help raise awareness and inspire people to adopt “Just Serve” as a vehicle to perform regular service.

So this is my request…please help me with any donation of $10, $25, $50 or more to create this music video. It will also include heart-warming vignettes of people reaching out to neighbors in need. This is not a money making project. My only goal as the song states, is to raise “The Call” to motivate others to heal the “Refugees of the Heart” all around us through service.

My estimated expenses to complete this project by September 25th are $6,900. Over 6k is for the professional videographer who has already done shoots in Washington DC, and Sedona, AZ and 2 vignettes with 6 actors. He is currently editing the final Video. The balance is to pay the Actors and promote the video so people will see it. Any additional donations will go toward JustServe organizations.
