Musical Instruments for Fire-Affected Families
Donation protected
Music is more than just entertainment—it's a lifeline for joy, healing, and connection. For children, in particular, music serves as a powerful tool for emotional expression, cognitive development, and mental well-being.
Research shows that engaging with music—whether listening, learning, or creating—educes stress and fosters a sense of purpose and belonging. For children who experience trauma or loss, music becomes an outlet for emotions they may not yet have the words to express. It builds resilience, enhances self-esteem, and offers a source of comfort during difficult times.
The devastating loss of a musical instrument in a tragedy like the Palisades Fire is more than the loss of an object; it’s the loss of a voice, a means of expression, and a source of joy. By providing instruments and lessons to children affected by such events, we can give them back their voice and a way to heal.
Music doesn’t just fill the silence—it restores hope, builds confidence, and uplifts entire communities. Together, we can help children find harmony after hardship, one note at a time.
My name is Brad Miller, and my daughter Sophie and I are longtime residents of Pacific Palisades and aspiring musicians. We lost our home in the fire, and with that, we lost our guitars and piano. While we are fortunate to have a place to stay and in time will have the resources to replace our instruments, many in our community will not. The mission of Music from the Ashes is to provide musical instruments and lessons to children in the community who lost theirs in the fire. We will be receiving funds into our personal bank account and managing the funds on behalf of Music from the Ashes.
