M.U.S.E. Mentorship Website
Donation protected
M.U.S.E. (mentorship for underrepresented STEM enthusiasts) is a website providing mentorship to and from underrepresented students in STEM. Mentors list a variety of ways in which they can help students apply to college and graduate school and navigate academia as an underrepresented person.
Diversity is foundational to the strength of our academic institutions. Initiatives like these are so important for providing much needed mentorship and representation to underrepresented students in STEM.
Why are we asking for funds? This website is being created by graduate students who need funds for two reasons:
1. To pay for the website domain (2 years = $250.00)
2. To pay 21 mentors for their time and labor.
Efforts to diversify STEM disproportionately fall on underrepresented students in academia. This work is valuable and we believe that the chronic effort graduate students expend trying to better our institutions deserves to be compensated. We believe it is reasonable to be compensated for mentoring future generations of scientists while these graduate students also juggle classes, research, TA-ing and other extracurricular involvement. The creators of this website are taking ZERO payment for founding MUSE and making the website. Funds are only for mentoring students and website costs.

Please consider a small donation, any amount will help us reach our goal for paying 21 mentors throughout the year for the students they mentor. Any extra funds will be donated back to the local community and other initiatives to diversify STEM (e.g. Letters to a PreScientist or Skype A Scientist.)
