Mural Cleanup and Safety

During the late hours of Saturday, September 9 or early morning hours of Sunday, September 10, 2023, a mural painted by students of Miss Megan's Make Room was vandalized. This mural was made in the summer of 2022 at a private residence. 24 young artists, aged 4 to 14, two studio assistants, and myself (Miss Megan) worked 60+ hours over the course of one month to complete this mural. The mural resides on a garden wall owned by the Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni Association, and was sanctioned by them. The purpose of this mural was to bring beauty and joy to the neighborhood. We are beyond disheartened that this has happened, and would like to not only repair the damage, but implement safety measures to hopefully prevent this from happening again. We would also like to install weather-safe plaques at this location, as well as at our other 3 mural locations in Lubbock. Any remaining funds will be used to purchase additional plaques for upcoming mural projects, as we already have 3 in the works for the summer of 2024. Any paint left from this repair will be used in those upcoming projects as well.
