This is about my sister, Nancy. She has 3 physical disabilities that cause mega fatigue and pain on a daily basis. She lives with her 3 adult children who do 99% of the housework because she can't. She is able to drive. She can drive to pick up a grocery order. She also drives to pick up prescriptions and take herself to and from church.
Her 25-year-old son has epilepsy. He gets what are called absent seizures. He is finishing up at a 4-year downtown university. His doctor told him he is not allowed to drive. Neither of his older siblings drive.
The 1st Monday in February, Nancy was driving home after dropping her son off for evening classes. A car next to her recklessly decided to change lanes in front of the car in front of her. That driver abruptly stopped, and she slammed on her brake as hard as she could but still ended up hitting the back of that car. She was not seriously hurt.
The man at the garage told her that to repair external and engine damage to her 11-year-old car would cost at least $5,000—more than he decided her car was worth. She did file a police report, but the driver who caused the accident sped off, as did the driver of the car she rear-ended. So, no chance to find them and see if they have auto insurance to help with her car.
She is driving a rental right now which is being covered by her brother-in-law. Nancy's only income is disability, which just helps to take care of ordinary bills and needs. She cannot afford car payments AND insurance at the same time. She would be willing to buy a 10-year-old car paid for in full if it is in solid condition and everything works with no problems.
The goal was 3,000 but now is $2300. It is vital for her and her children that she get a used replacement car ASAP. PLEASE donate even small amounts because it all adds up.
