Update as of 7/24/2025 –
Mike was making steady progress after miraculously making it out of the ICU, to a regular room, then from the hospital to a short-term facility on July 8th. He was happy to have his first cup of coffee his first morning there. This was a big deal as he had to learn to swallow again to be able to eat, along with meeting multiple other benchmarks, before he could be moved.
After a week in the short-term facility, Mike was working on PT, OT , and speech, the dogs were able to visit, and he got to enjoy a steak dinner! He was (and is) encountering a lot of pain but struggled through to be able to dress in regular clothes and finally ditch the hospital gown.
On 7/22, Mike was sent back to the hospital due to an infection in his leg. He underwent emergency surgery and will need more procedures to ensure the infection is taken care of. He is a trooper and fighting through pain and discomfort. This is another setback that will require more therapy and rehab in a facility for approximately 3 months followed up more at home. Please donate to help support Mike, Christine, and Aidan to take a little burden off. There is a long road ahead.
Our friends Mike, Christine, and Aidan Mullin are facing an extremely difficult time. Mike is in the ICU, critically ill, fighting for his life to return home to be with his loving wife, Christine, and recent FHS graduate son, Aidan.
Mike had completed his contract position with a construction company and before he could land another job, he became ill. Thinking it was a normal cold he rode it out, until he couldn’t any longer. When he started having major pain and difficulty breathing, he went to the emergency department. He was admitted with a collapsed lung and pneumonia. Mike’s illness progressed quickly, and he was placed on a ventilator for assistance with breathing and to allow his body to fight off the infections. Over the past two plus weeks, various diagnoses and treatments have taken place and the responses to those treatments has been a rollercoaster of emotions for the family and struggle for Mike.
Through it all, Christine and Aidan have been by his side every day. Knowing that Mike would have insisted, they stepped away for Aidan to participate in his Senior end of year activities culminating with graduation on the 10th. Knowing that his father would have wanted him to be there, Aidan went to participate and then quickly returned to his father’s side as soon as he could. Aidan is getting prepared to start his college career this September.
As we all could imagine, the hospital bills are building and will continue once he is out of the hospital. Mike will have a very long road ahead of him. Please help this family take a little bit of worry away. In addition to donations, we are asking for prayers.
