Muhanga Fundraiser
Donation protected
In the summer of 2018, I had the opportunity to participate in a service trip to the beautiful district of Muhanga, in Rwanda. Prior to the trip, my fellow peers and I raised money for months for services such as health care cards, an outdoor play area and goats. During our time in Rwanda, we were able to meet many amazing people and be welcomed into the beautiful community of Muhanga. Throughout my time there, my peers and I spent most of our days at a local elementary school, spending time in the classrooms and tutoring after school. Throughout our time at the school, the outdoor play area was being built with the help of our funds, and it was finished by the time we left two weeks later. The service trip I participated in June-July of 2018 was the last service trip to Rwanda that St. Stephens School in Rome, Italy, organized. Last year, the service trip did not take place because of a lack of signups, and I was personally unable to go as I was in the midst of moving back to Ottawa with my family. This year, the trip has been yet again cancelled as a result of the COVID19 pandemic and the travel bans resulting from it. The community of Muhanga has been hit hard by the pandemic, as have most places. And the hardest hit areas include access to food, health care and sanitary products (such as pads). The funds I am hoping to raise with your support would help with the purchase of food bundles, much-needed health cards, and sanitary products. While I recognize that many areas of the world have been hit hard, this little community in Rwanda is one I have a personal attachment to, and I know that any amount of financial support can go a long way for the families I met. Thank you in advance for any amount you can donate, it will mean a lot to me and every family and person it helps in Muhanga.
I will post updates throughout the fundraising process.
