MudArmy 2.0 Helicopter Support

The Cause:

With the devasting floods hitting the Southeast QLD & Northern NSW Coasts and bringing massive destruction from Ballina to Lismore and beyond, we have teamed up some local Gold Coast Businesses to get support to those who need it, but can't be accessed by car or boat or access has been cut or limited.

 

Who's Raising Funds

Media Booth (Ross Meadows) AMT Marine (Andy Taylor) and Channel 7 Weatherman and Step Outside Host, Paul Burt have teamed up to raise funds to fly in much needed supplies to those in need and in remote or isolated locations across Northern NSW directly affected by the recent flood event. Our focus areas will be Ballina to Lismore and to the West. Sea World Helicopters will be conducting our flights and has conducted many donated flights over past days to rescue people, horses to name a few. They have also worked closely with Channel 7 to cover a lot of the live crosses seen on Channel 7's coverage of the floods. Chief Pilot of Sea World Helicopters, Ash Jenkinson will be piloting the helicopter in most cases and also helping support our cause.

 

How we use the Donations

Donations will be put towards flight hours in the helicopter, an AS350, to drop off supplies and offer evacuation support to stranded people and families where possible. Along with this GoFundMe, the team at AMT Marine have been collecting food, water and clothing donations to be taken on the flights, we are also trying to work on a line of communicate with the SES to coordinate and get supplies to those who need it most. Any donation money left over will be either put towards food donations or donated to a charity or local cause directly helping the flood impacted areas.

 

Why we are using helicopters

The huge benefit of being able to deliver supplies by helicopter, is its ability to land in hard to access locations, fast travel times (generally around 25% of the time it would take to drive a car is a good rule of thumb for helicopter speed) and the visibility of the areas for identifying further problematic locations.
