Last week my wife and I’s dog Daisy had a fall that gave us a scare and immediately told us something was wrong. We took her to the vet soon after and they suspected it was a slipped disk and had put her on two medications for both pain and inflammation. Fast forward to exactly a week later, she is just as lethargic, if not worse and has fallen over at least four times now, and not eating at all. Worried about her health, we immediately took her to urgent care 10/22 this evening.
After some blood work, what we were told we were not prepared for. She is severely anemic. the vet essentially said we either have her do a hospital stay, blood work and blood transfusion, or we eventually need to put her down.
If you know us at all, putting her down is the last thing we expected to do or see as an option. She has been a part of our little family since she was 2 months old. To think of all of the memories we’ve created with her for the last 6 years and her putting a smile on people’s faces, we can’t even imagine our lives without her. We absolutely can’t even fathom the thought of losing her so suddenly.
This unfortunate news has been an unexpected financial curveball that has lead us here.
Any support and help we can get to have her get the blood transfusion she needs, hospital stay, and any additional medical tests/costs would be greatly appreciated - more than we can say.
From the bottom of our hearts,
Ben & May
