I’m making this fundraiser for a close friend and her two children, who have finally been able to return home to the UK after years of surviving an abusive situation here in the US.

For a long time, life for them was unstable and exhausting. They spent time bouncing between shelters, temporary places to stay, and relying on the kindness of friends whenever there was nowhere else to go. Through all of it, she kept fighting to protect her children and get them somewhere safe.

After years of legal issues and obstacles, they were finally cleared to leave and have now made it back to the UK safely.

The problem is that getting there drained almost everything they had financially. Starting over from scratch in another country is incredibly expensive, especially with children.

What’s made things even more stressful is that they were hit with unexpected travel and luggage costs during the trip, including roughly $400 in extra baggage fees that completely blew apart what little budget they had left. At this point, even relatively small donations can make a real difference immediately.

I wanted to put this together so people who care can help take some of the pressure off while they get settled, find stable housing, replace essentials, and begin rebuilding their lives.
