This year, I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. My second diagnosis of breast cancer in just over 2 years.

Facing another journey where I had previously felt isolated, overwhelmed, and deeply emotional even when surrounded by support. I knew I had to try to make a difference to other people like me and so founded Cancer Support Netherlands.

Cancer Support Netherlands is at its heart a community where you can receive peer to peer support from others going through the same journey as you. Since our establishment in March this year we have grown to almost 100 members. Members whose journey through cancer has been helped by having the support of their peers.

Cancer Support Netherlands is also a brand new non-profit with a vision to make sure that no one has to face cancer alone, This is a rare chance to build something that truly matters — a support system for others walking this difficult and deeply personal road.

Our mission is simple but powerful:

To create community, connection, and care for anyone facing cancer in the Netherlands.

To build safe, supportive spaces — both online and in-person — where people feel heard, held, and understood.

To put human connection at the heart of every cancer journey.

We’re starting small but thinking big — and kicking off with our first fundraising goal of €5,000. These funds will go directly toward:

• Setting up the foundation

• Launching our online community platform

• Creating a buddy program to connect people going through similar experiences

• Hosting workshops, events, and retreats to offer emotional and mental support

To help get things started, we will be bringing together a team of around 30 to walk the Pink Ribbon Dam to Dam 20km raising funds, awareness, and a few blisters in the name of connection and care!
