never thought I’d find myself writing another GoFundMe so soon, but I’ve been hit with a huge setback, and I’m reaching out because I don’t know how to get through this on my own.
This past Friday, my car was completely totaled in a serious accident. I want to be clear — I was not driving, nor was I even with the car when it happened. I had let a friend borrow it, and they fled the scene after the crash. Now my car is gone, and since I didn’t have active insurance, I have no coverage to replace it.
The reason I didn’t have insurance is simple and painful to admit: I couldn’t afford it once my unemployment ran out. On top of that, I’ve been pursuing a lawsuit against my former employer for discrimination. That case is now moving forward to investigation with the EEOC, but it’s been extremely time-consuming and has made it even harder to find stable work. Between fighting that battle, trying to stay afloat financially, and job searching, I’ve been stretched beyond my limits.
Losing my car in the middle of all this has made life feel impossible. Without transportation, I can’t reliably get to appointments, job interviews, or even handle daily responsibilities. But most importantly, this loss affects my daughter, Avery. If she gets sick at school, I have no way to drop everything and go pick her up. Even the little things — taking her to activities, making sure she feels secure — are now so much harder. That’s what weighs on me the most.
I know some of you supported me about a year ago when I lost my job and started my first GoFundMe. I will never forget that kindness, and I don’t expect anyone to give again. I’m only sharing this because I truly don’t have another option right now.
What I’m asking for is help to raise enough to purchase a safe, reliable vehicle and cover the costs that come with it. This would give me and Avery a chance to regain some stability, independence, and peace of mind. Any amount, no matter how small, would make a difference. And if you aren’t in a place to donate, even sharing this page would mean so much.
I’ll also be posting updates so you can see where things stand, how funds are used, and hopefully, soon, a picture of the car that gets us moving forward again.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my story, for sharing, and for any support you can give.
With gratitude,
Ashley
