I just want to thank each and every one of you, for taking the time to read Marie's story and why it's so important to her
Marie also known as Mrs Claus or Mrs Elf Mcbubbles is registered disabled with 24 different conditions and because she's unable to work, she wanted to find a way to give back and help others.
Please read her story below...
Christmas has always been a big part of my life, and when my children were little, I started Santa letters, where 1 letter grew to 12 the next year and now I write to over 350 plus children every year.
I have a Christmas postbox on my door, so that children can drop their letters off that I reply to, as well as parents that contact me online for their orders.
For over 20 years, I have written free Santa letters and created Christmas parcels all out of my own pocket, without any form of donations or sponsors for children all over the world, from low income families, disabled families and any family that wants a reply from Santa.
I started sending Santa letters, where 1 letter grew to 12 letters and last year I delivered and posted over 350 plus Christmas parcels. Normally I personally save throughout the year, picking up bits and pieces for the parcels. I've never charged a single penny, so that every child can experience a letter from Santa to make them smile.
I hand make nearly everything in my parcels from personalised letters to Santa keys, magic bells and reindeer food. The children also receive a toy, a large bar of chocolate and sweets. A lot of the letters are posted but thanks to a few family members, last year some of the children in my local area got a visit from me dressed as Mrs Elf Mcbubbles. It was a delight to see their smiles and answer their questions.
I don't only write letters for children, I also help two charities close to my heart... one that helps parents escaping domestic abuse with their children and one that helps support children with mental health.
This would be my 21st year and unfortunately due to the financial times with our current climate being the way it is and being disabled, I don't have the funds to continue my yearly tradition without the help and support of some kind and lovely people. I would never normally ask for payment for the free Santa parcels or the cost of postage, because alot of the families I help are struggling so hard, where some rely on food banks just to survive.
Honestly this Christmas like everyone before it, I just want to make every child feel special and keep the Christmas spirit in their hearts, especially in these hard times. I've never missed a year in 20 years, I even continued the letters through covid and ill health.
I'm heartbroken my finances won't stretch to the amount I need. Last year the parcels cost just over £1500, so I know this year with the rising costs, it could be a lot more. I try to buy in bulk and start early every year but with the cost of living this year, I'm really struggling to get anything this year.
It means the world to me, and I really appreciate all the support and love from so many kind hearted people, that are helping me to make this year's Christmas letters and parcels possible.
Lots of love from, Mrs Elf Mcbubbles ☺️
