It has been a long few months for 11 year old Lily and her family. After months of blood tests, scans, and doctors visits, Lily was diagnosed with a Schwannoma tumor located behind a lymph node in her neck. Lily underwent surgery on 9/7/20 to remove this massive tumor. The surgery was extremely complicated and long. The surgeons needed to split her jawbone at her chin in order to safely access the tumor, leaving Lily’s face extremely swollen and painful. The tumor stemmed from the vagus nerve and also affected the hypoglossal nerve impacting her voice and the ability to swallow. A tracheotomy and feeding tube was required postoperatively. Lily’s recovery is going to be a long process and she needs the support of her parents by her side. Hopes are that Bryanne and Tom (parents) can focus on Lily (and little brother Cooper) at this time and not have to worry about finances.
