Down with Jayla

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Eric and I started this GoFundMe for my sister and her husband, Lynette and Justin. They were recently blessed with a baby girl, Jayla on December 16, 2018 who has a face that will instantly tug at your heart strings. The birth didn’t come without complications though. Jayla was born with Down Syndrome and has severe respiratory issues as well. This requires her to be monitored constantly and as such she was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for over three months. Just recently she was moved to a less intensive floor but still needs to be on oxygen constantly or she will not get enough air to perfuse her body.

In addition to that, Jayla has been fed through a nasogastric feeding tube since birth and will undergo surgery to have a tube permanently placed. This is because even after she goes home she will still need to be fed through a tube. In addition to that she will need to be on oxygen as well at home. Daily, her nurses work with her on how to use a pacifier and bottle which is proving difficult because of her low muscle tone due to the Down Syndrome; therefore, it will be a while before she is completely independent.

For this reason Lynette has not been able to return to work since Jayla's birth. Every day she makes the commute from Palmdale to CHLA to be with her daughter/meet with nurses and doctors. With their family being down an entire income for 3.5 months, financially they have been stretched. They have taken every last resource available to them: time, money, energy, etc. and diverted it all to ensuring they’re at Jayla’s side every possible second.

Lynette will be unable to return to work until Jayla learns to eat on her own and it breaks my heart to know that money has become a stressor for them. This is a time when nothing else should be of concern to them but the health of their baby girl. This is why I started this page to ask for your help. Please consider donating to this family and keep in mind that any amount you give will be appreciated. It will not only help alleviate some of the financial stress they are experiencing but also help them remain distraction free so they can stay focused on what’s truly important right now, being their for Jayla. If you have any questions or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to ask.

If not, thank you so much for taking the time to care.
