About:
Compared to most places in Ireland Moycullen is especially fortunate in that its parish birth, marriage and death records go very far back to the 1780s . If you have no names or records to go on, DNA testing will prove a family link.
Adding people to the genealogy DNA data base who have established Moycullen roots will aid people throughout the world in proving their connection to Moycullen.
The purpose of the Moycullen DNA Project is to provide free autosomal DNA testing kits to approximately 20 seniors who represent long-established Moycullen families.
The results of the testing, along with corresponding family tree information, will be made available through Gedmatch and the Moycullen Area Genealogy Facebook page for general public use.
Autosomal DNA testing allows people to use genetics to find and prove family relationships. Combined with documentary sources these test results help families to broaden and expand their family trees.
