Moving Funds for Young Black Woman

Here goes. I am not famous, I do not have a big Twitter following or anything that sets me aside as 'special'. I am just a regular person trying to get through the world and it has taken me a lot of courage to ask for help because I know there are people worse off than me.

I'm a 19 year old Black woman trying to get an art degree in London. Not only have I come up against the struggles of trying to fund my education, I am also currently battling with my emotionally manipulative parents who are abusive and gaslighting.

I suffer from anxiety and depression but my parents refuse to speak of it, they still think poor mental health is shameful and I don't often get to speak up or express myself. Art is very therapeutic for me and has been the only thing stopping me from harming myself in the past. I am trying to get better but it is impossible at home.

My parents think that Art school is a waste of time and money and have refused to support me. They believe that my mental health and art is connected and believe I am 'radical'. They have grown increasingly abusive over the matter in the last 6 months and are now saying if I pursue my dreams of being an artist instead of getting a 'real' job they will throw me out of the house. I believe it is only a matter of time.

With Covid-19 I am struggling to find an easy way out of this situation, London isn't cheap and I have nowhere to go. I am hoping to raise any sort of money as a way of getting some sort of housing, there is a place I have found which is very affordable (for London) and it would allow me to get out, focus on my studies and start a new life.

Thank you.
