Help Jaya Reunite With Her Family in Townsville
Your kindness can carry someone through a daunting change with dignity and safety — because any of us could be just one unexpected step away from starting over.
Hi, my name is Jaya (Jacqueline Lewis), and I’m asking for support as I prepare to relocate 1,400 km to Townsville to be closer to my daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
I am responsible, hardworking, and careful with money — selling my car and staying home for nearly 18 months to save. Even so, rising living costs, debt from COVID lockdowns, and everyday expenses have left me with no financial buffer. I am now on the edge, struggling to cover the practical costs of this move.
This relocation is essential for my health, personal safety, stability, and ability to rebuild. It will also allow me to pursue new employment opportunities. But the costs of moving, accommodation, cleaning, transport, and a small safety buffer for essentials are beyond what I can manage alone. Your support will cover:
Moving truck and packing supplies (~$4,750)
One-way flight (~$200–$350)
Bond clean & carpet cleaning (~$650)
Safety buffer for set-up essentials the other end (~$2,500)
Reuniting with family will provide grounding, security, and emotional support, allowing me to start fresh with dignity.
Asking for help publicly is hard, but I believe in the power of community. Every donation, and even simply sharing this story, brings me closer to safety, stability, and a new beginning.
Thank you for seeing me and for caring.
With gratitude,
Jaya ♥️
WEBSITE: Here is my professional artist website, to confirm the kind of human I am (nb. I am NOT doing any film work - for some years now - since I was forced to sell all my film gear during lock-downs to survive. At present, I am currently working in retail, and teach ESL privately four nights a week. But still, I cannot raise enough to move - I'm earning just enough to pay the living cost bills):
