For anyone who has ever met Kobe Borror, they know that his smile – dimples and all – lights up an entire room. He has a kind spirit; he has a mind that overflows with intelligence; and his athleticism is something to be seen. Kobe is a great brother to three sisters, including two little sisters who think the world of him. Kobe is a regular 16-year-old kid who has his whole life ahead of him.

On May 28, 2018, his father and stepmother were told news that no parent should ever have to hear: Kobe has leukemia. Kobe had recently become dizzy, weak and was experiencing bruising all over his body. Further blood tests uncovered leukemia and the need for immediate medical intervention to stabilize his red cell count.

Throughout all of this, Kobe has continued to be Kobe – kind, strong and very excited about food when he was feeling up to it. He has a very long fight ahead of him. His family has been told that he will be in the hospital for weeks or even months and his overall treatment could take years. He is going to fight this but he needs to have his family near him and access to the best medical care you can get. While his family does have some insurance, their expected contribution has already started and is expected to continue growing. Kobe’s parents are hard-working folks who just want their four children to be happy and healthy.
