My name is Euleilah. This is our story, and this challenge is for my sister, Poppy Eloise.
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention awareness is deeply personal to my family and I. We have experienced the heartbreaking loss of more than one loved one to suicide. Their memories are a constant reminder of why conversations about Mental Health, compassion, and accessible support are so important. Move with Poppy was created in honour of my beautiful sister, Poppy Eloise in the hope that together, we can help create a future where fewer families experience this kind of loss.
Poppy battled with her Mental Health almost her whole life. She showed the most incredible strength through some of the most hardest moments imaginable, but despite that strength unfortunately she lost her battle to suicide. Her passing left an unimaginable hole in the lives of everyone who loved her. No family should have to experience this kind of loss, and no person should feel like they have to face their struggles alone.
I created Move with Poppy to honour her legacy, encourage open conversations about Mental Health, raise awareness about suicide prevention, and help create a future where more people feel seen, supported, and never alone.
Throughout August, I'll be moving 5 kilometres everyday and inviting everyone to do the same. Every step is a reminder that mental health matters. Every movement helps raise funds to go to Mental health organisations around Australia to help those struggling.
This challenge is about more than exercise. It's about creating a community that also helps people understand more about the background on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. Im creating a safe community where people can check in on one another, start conversation, and help funds for organisations that provide support to people in need.
If you're taking part, thank you. Whether you walk, run, cycle, swim, hike, or simply share Poppy's story. You're helping keep her memory alive and reminding others that hope still exists, even after an unimaginable loss.
Every step is for Poppy. Every Step Matters.
