My brother and I are participating in the National Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 13th September, Our aim is to raise awareness of Mouth Cancer, we have our own very personal reasons for this.

In June 2024 our Dad (Big Bob) was diagnosed with stage 4 mouth cancer, 3 weeks later with no time to process what he was about to endure he was on the operating table for a life saving but life changing 16.5hr operation.

Since then Dad has fought numerous complications and hurdles including pneumonia, and has been put on palliative care twice, he now receives all of his nutrition and meds through a peg as he is unable to eat or drink anything, he hates this however we are so grateful to have him in ours, his devoted wife's and his grandchildren's lives.

Mouth cancer (or oral cancer) can develop in any part of the mouth, including the lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, and throat, and is characterized by persistent mouth ulcers, red or white patches, and lumps.

Please please if anyone suffers from this or knows of anyone who has this please go and get it checked out by either a dentist or doctor!!

If Dads mouth cancer would have been caught sooner maybe he would be able to enjoy the simple things in life like a pint and a steak and chips with his nearest and dearest!
