On May 12th 2024 Karen Barnes mother and grandmother to Susan And Rylie reunited with her mother and father. May the 12th held a very important significance to Karen as it was her mothers (Dorothy) birthday Karen's daughter Susan had always wanted to scatter her ashes at Glastonbury with her nan and grandad on the anniversary of her mums death.
Karen had lived on the Isle of Wight for a period of her life and absolutely loved the island, she had even completed the Walk The Wight, so Susan in her memory with her son Rylie, Karen's grandson, Would like to give Karen one last adventure with her ashes before she's in her forever resting place in Glastonbury with her mum and dad
All the money from this will go to the charity Mountbatten. Mountbatten are a wonderful charity that help with palliative care and help support families. The charity aim to give some dignity within death. Any funds would be met with a massive amount of gratitude. The Walk the Wight is a fundraiser event in which you cross the length of the Isle of Wight at a whopping 26 miles.
We hope this walk gives Karen one last adventure, and to further help families with members at end of life.
