Fáilte, is mise Niall Hehir, and I am raising funds for my children's school, Gaelscoil Áine, in Drumcondra, Dublin. To support this cause, I am participating in a unique 24-hour challenge that will push my body to its limits.
What started as a personal goal quickly became an opportunity for others to join me, even if just for a leg or two of the journey. Family, friends, and kids are all welcome to participate.
Growing up in North Clare, I didn't fully appreciate the beauty of the Irish landscape. Through this challenge, I hope to inspire my children to appreciate the stunning world around us.
This challenge is steeped in Irish history. We have a rich heritage in activities like hiking, mountaineering, and other outdoor sports. One notable figure, John Hart, undertook a remarkable 75-mile journey in 1886, walking from Dublin to Lugnaquilla Mountain in Wicklow and back, successfully completing it. I, along with hopefully a few others, aim to accomplish the same feat.
Let’s hope we can follow in his footsteps!
