Mother with terminal cancer back to making memorie

Hello everyone, my name is Susan Mackenzie and I’m sure many people would have heard my story…

I was unfortunately diagnosed with a reoccurrence of triple negative breast cancer in Feb 2023 when my youngest baby was just 4 weeks old. I am devastated to say it is a terminal diagnosis. The oncologist gave me less then 2 years with treatment and I am already 12 months into that prognosis.

I have been trying to make as many memories with my 6 kids who are aged 9, 8, 7, 5, 3 and 1 and my husband as I can, as the thought of leaving them aches in my heart.

Just after Christmas we were on our way to see our close friends in NSW when our family car broke down on the side of the Hume Highway with a seized engine.

It has been nearly 2 months of not having a car and we have exhausted all options to try and get some money together to repair the car (which we have been quoted over $12000 just to source and put a reconditioned engine in by many mechanics) or to get another used 7 or 8 seater car.

We have tried many brokers (and had some actually laugh at me) but none have been able to help get a loan for our family in this

situation.

We have tried scraping any money we can but the reality is that I most likely will not be alive to see another car by time we save enough.

The driving fight that I have had to fight this horrible disease is starting to fade as I can no longer make memories with my family, drive them to school and kinder, attend my treatment and appointments without relying on other people to drive me and the kids, and it’s getting really hard on everyone.

I really hate asking for help but I have exhausted every option that I can think of to get back on the road and regain some independence back. I am reaching out to anyone who can help raise some money, any help at all would be greatly appreciated by myself and my family.
