What is "Morowa Nana" ?

Morowa Nana is a short film exploring the complex realities of beauty, Black womanhood and ancestral connection through the lens of the African diaspora. It asks powerful questions:

What does is mean to remember who you are, when the world has asked you to forget?

How do we reclaim our stories- and your power- after generations of silence?

Told through intimate storytelling, striking visuals and spiritual voiceover in Twi (with English subtitles), this is not just a film - it's a visual offering to the ancestors, and a love letter to all Black women who've been told they are "too much" or "not enough".

Why We Need You

This short film will be shot between Ghana and London, blending ancestral lands and contemporary cities to mirror the emotional and spiritual journey of the main character.

It's a bold artistic production and to make it happen, we're asking for your help.

We are raising £90, 000 to cover:

  • Travel and crew costs in Ghana and London
  • Cinematography, editing & post production
  • Sound, styling, lighting, locations
  • Marketing, submissions and festival distributions

Who Is Behind the Film?

This project is led by Ngalo Consulting LTD, a creative agency and a Black woman -owned company founded by Jessica, a Spanish-British with roots in the African diaspora- cultural strategist, storyteller and producer. She wrote the concept, curated the team and has been working on this vision since 2023.

Key collaborators include:
  • Directed by: Ngalo Consulting Ltd
  • Creative Direction: Ngalo Consulting Ltd
  • Producer: Ngalo Consulting Ltd
  • Starring: Kezia Agyeman-Boafo

Ngalo Consulting was born to amplify underrepresented voices across fashion, film, music and visual arts. This project -rooted in ritual, resistance and diaspora healing- is the agency's debut short film production.

This isn't just a short film. It's a statement of intent: to build artistic spaces where Black women's stories are entered, elevated and protected.
