As we prepare to welcome a new baby through the beautiful and complicated process of adoption, we find ourselves preparing in many ways. We're planning, we're checking, we're hoping, we're resting (as much as Zion lets us...so, barely). We're also preparing financially to be ready for the moment of YES!

Adoption is so many things -- and I won't write them all here (text me if you want a dissertation). One reality of adoption that we simply cannot get around is that it is expensive. (For a lot of very good reasons, by the way!) We couldn't have done it without our community support before, and we can't do it alone again.

So, humbly and gently, we're putting this goal out there.

For our donors, we will be doing something special. Those that supported Zion's adoption are named on a beautiful piece of artwork in his room (we talk of you all, often). We'll do something similar this time, too.

In addition, this time I'd love to do something more. For those who would like one, I will send a thank you in the form of an original piece of poetry. Once you donate, I'll reach out and you'll give me the details (do you want an anniversary piece for your better half? A poem about your lovely child? An ode to your cat?). Then I'll write something just for you (no AI, I promise) and send it your way.
