Bring some joy to the aboriginal kids of Moree! 1000 pool passes for kids!
Moree is a hot hot place, with summer temperatures often over 40degC. Many houses lack air conditioning.
Moree pool entry is expensive - $9 for adults, $6.80 for kids. This makes it the 2nd most expensive council pool to visit in NSW. The entry feel is prohibitive to people on low incomes.
High entry fees means segregation is still happening - the Moree pool has a history of excluding access to Aboriginal people.
It was the location of a famous picket by Freedom Riders in 1965 who were attacked when they tried to buy tickets to take Aboriginal children to the pool.
It’s 2020 - let’s ensure aboriginal kids get to enjoy the pool.
I lived in Moree for 3 years. I want to give back to the Moree community.
I will use the money to buy pool passes. I will give these to Aboriginal organisations in Moree to distribute.
