Let's help Monti and Augie stay together

A friend, Erin, told me about a homeless man Monti and his dog Augie. It is my understanding, Monti found Augie 5 years ago as a stray and through a local rescue in Delaware, was able to adopt him, get him neutered and vaccinated. Augie is healthy and happy and the two are BFF's.

Being in rescue, and constantly reminded of irresponsible owners, I was drawn to the fact Monti would not go into any shelter, regardless of dangerous weather forecasts, if it meant leaving Augie (his best friend) behind.

In November 2023, I turned to my social media family for donations of supplies, food items and of course, doggie stuffs. We were totally blown away by the response and made 2 donation drop offs. Unfortunately, shortly after the donations were made, he was robbed of his tent, sleeping bags and other belongings. It was the same weekend, 1/5/24, a severe snowstorm was predicted. Erin and I were concerned for their welfare... to make a long story short, we got Monti and Augie into a hotel.

I have contacted various Delaware homeless service organizations and with a dog, it is almost impossible to get shelter. I found a helpful person, who informed me, he needs a valid ID. This is a work in progress.

Monti is hopeful and so appreciative for everyone who has donated so he and Augie have a roof over their head. He is actively getting his ID, has two job offers that will allow him to generate income to help afford an apartment for him and Augie. They can't move on if they have to go back on the streets, and just as we are helping them, one day they will be able to pay it forward by helping someone else in need.

The hotel weekly rate is $507.78. At this point (1/28/24), cash donations received are $2570.51 and expenses are at $2906.23. The GFM goal will help cover hotel extensions, misc. cash on hand, when the time comes deposit/rent needs.

I can't imagine being homeless and if you can't either then all I ask is you donate $5, $10, $20 to help Monti and Augie stay together and one day hopefully, I can end this GFM with ...."and they lived happily ever after".
