The health and economic burden of monkeypox on the Black and Hispanic LGBTQ+ community in Dallas County is becoming staggering. Individuals that have contracted Monkey Pox in our community are facing increased challenges to meet basic essential needs such as food and shelter due to unexpected illness and extended time away from work. Many are in need of immediate short-term financial and supportive relief while recovering. This is compounded by the fact that most are uninsured, or underinsured with little means to adequately access medical care and prepare for impending medical bills.

As with past public health crises, Abounding Prosperity, Inc. is at the forefront to address these needs in our community through the provision of food boxes, home care kits, and monetary assistance. This effort can only be successful through us coming together to support one another in our time of need.
