Monette Watley’s Family Fund

Christina Gonzalez with Fox 11 was reporting live in Van Nuys during a protest, speaking to a liquor store owner and his friends/family, when a group of guys tried to loot his property and the Cash for Gold business next door. One woman, Monette, has known the liquor store owner for over 30 years, so she wanted to help protect his business. When Monette and Christina flagged down cops, they handcuffed Monette, her husband, and brother-in-law, instead of initially going after the looters. Monette is fighting for the same reasons that the protestors are but doesn’t want people coming in from out of town to vandalize the town she lives in. Having lived through the ‘92 protests, this is not the first time she has experienced this. Having watched her interview, Monette won the hearts of many viewers, and we just want to say ‘thank you’ for being a part of the LA community and helping defend local businesses from looters.
