Moncrieff family, hockey's best volunteers, help!
Donation protected
Anyone involved in Ice Hockey in NSW or Australia for that matter will know the name. What you might not know is how much they show up, give of their time and energy, all while both working and raising 4 boys, well men now really.
In the last year they have been through more than many of us could endure but still kept going and supporting the boys in their sport. It's hard enough having 1 child playing, imagine funding 3! They should also be familiar to my international friends, they have volunteered at the international games, including the cups and the classic. They did the score sheets and time keeping and anything else we ever needed.
This family, especially parents Sue and Lee, have given so much to hockey in this country and it's time we give back. They are humble, beautiful people who would never ask for help so I'm asking. They have endured so much recently. Firstly they are from the Hawkesbury and have been flood affected with their house being inundated more than once. Their local rink at Penrith that they put their blood sweat and tears into closed in June which adds to travel and costs, they even lost their trusty van to a horrible accident a while ago.
I'm not going to get involved in Sunday's AIHL Bears game other than to say you can google it and watch and decide for yourself. What I am going to say is that to have a stick broken on your child's teeth by another player in a national-level exhibition game and then to have to find the money to pay for medical treatment (dental is not covered by our medicare in Australia, sports insurance is limited and can take a long time to pay out if at all) after everything else these parents have endured this year breaks my heart! If I had the means to just cover it myself, I would. So I'm asking you, my hockey peeps, those I've helped, those I've organised games, teams, refs, goalies for. Those I've possibly even upset from time to time but who love the Moncrieffs and have benefited from their dedication like I have, please give or if you can't give share this go fund me. Please, even just a few dollars each will go a long way. I have never done something like this before and may never again, but this one is really important to me. All funds raised will be given directly to Sue to use as she sees fit.
Thank you for your time to read this and please no negative comments about the recent events, lets rise above and send Tommy positive vibes for a quick recovery.
Much Love
